The appeal to Kelce carries some logic — the NFL star has happy memories of Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas after his Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime during Super Bowl LVIII in 2024.
The NRL's Vegas celebrity campaign has had a chequered history. The last NFL player to attend the season-opening games, Raiders defensive lineman Tyler Manoa , was ejected from the stadium after allegedly damaging a bathroom. And in 2025, the league's widely criticised attempt to lure then-US president Donald Trump to attend ended without success.
Next year's Las Vegas doubleheader will see the Parramatta Eels take on the Gold Coast Titans , and the Melbourne Storm face the Wests Tigers — a strong enough card on its own, though the league is clearly hoping a Swift-Kelce attendance could take the event to a whole new level of global attention.
