Sydney is a beautiful, outdoor-loving city, at its twinkly-Harbour best when bathed in sunshine. Perhaps that is why it always comes as a shock when the wet weather rolls in and Sydneysiders are filled with gloom. But a rainy day does not have to mean moping about at home or binging on Netflix. There are a great deal of things to see, do and enjoy around town. We’ve compiled 14 of our favourites. So pull out the gumboots and brolly, and splash to it.
1. Make Your Own Bubble Bath
One of the best rainy day activities for adults is to slip into a soothing bath laced with your own moisturizing soap blend. In a clean container, mix together ½ cup mild liquid hand or body soap, 1 tablespoon sugar or honey, and 1 egg white. Pour the entire mixture under the running water as you draw your bath. Honey is a natural humectant, which will attract and retain moisture in your skin. The egg white helps create stronger, longer-lasting bubbles, for a nice, fluffy bath. For extra-dry skin, consider adding a tablespoon of light oil, such as almond or light sesame. (Another surprising bath booster? Vinegar.)
2. Deep-Condition Your Hair
What better time than when you're stuck inside on a rainy day to pamper yourself a little? You’ve been wanting to give your hair a deep treatment but just haven’t been able to get to the drugstore or salon. Walk over to the fridge to find your solution: mayonnaise. Starting at the scalp, coat strands with ½ cup mayo. Leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. (For more at-home how-tos, see DIY Beauty Treatments and Fashion Fixes.)
3. Beat Your Friends in a Fifa Game
Everyone loves to play video games, especially on rainy type days. Playing video games is a fun way to enjoy the weather condition. Stay indoors, invite a few friends over and turn on a game of Fifa. Grab a few snacks, load up the teams and play all night. Stay tuned for the article of the worst only Fifa player shortly - Faisal :)
4. Watch Harry Potter in Bed
Harry Potter? Really? well, have you tried it on a day like today? Snuggle up in bed under a heavy blanket, cook some popcorn and load aHarry Potter movie- or go on a Harry Potter marathon? Don't judge it until you have tried it!
